First, I thought she was being sarcastic. But after three years of taking our shoes off and leaving behind our toenail clippers before boarding planes, we've finally proved we can net a high security threat.
Then I read the rest of the column.
The end:
On the face of it, Islam's diversion from the United States seems more like religious profiling than an anti-terrorist measure. Let's hope the government knows more than we do about what evils lurk in the activist's heart -- because he certainly isn't wearing it on his sleeve.
SEEMS MORE LIKE?
I want to email this columnist, but my email's down.
In no way does she even begin to indicate how the man formerly known as Cat Stevens might have terrorist connections. "He was said to endorse the death sentence launched against author Salman Rushdie, although he says his comments were misinterpreted. . . . In 2000, Israel turned him away, charging that he was a Hamas supporter." What the hell kind of evidence is this? It reads like "Cat Stevens converted to Islam=might be and probably is a terrorist and is just hiding it really well". "What evils lurk in the activist's heart?" WTF kind of statement is that?
