Here's the deal. (This is long.)

Back sometime earlier this year when I was doing the whole applying-to-grad-schools thing, I checked over the School of Education website to find out about application deadlines. On the main deadlines page there was a column in a table that read "September 30" as the deadline for Winter Term enrollment. I thought, okay, great, I can do that. Put it away in the back of my head to remember to work on over the summer.

Cut to about a month ago, and I'm seriously considering working on the application now. I check over the SOE site again--and the entire site's changed. Now the deadlines page's been divided up so that it directs you to individual programs and their deadlines, and the September 30th deadline has disappeared entirely. This might pose a problem, as it suggests that there is no Winter Term enrollment. I become a bit nervous and check the individual programs over. Nope, no deadlines for applications for Winter Term.

Okay, this is a little worrying, but nothing TOO bad, right? I'll put it aside for a while.

Come back to it not too long afterwards. I can send a contact form in, see what they say. So I do that, and on the contact form it has a check box for which term you wish to apply--and I check off "Winter", because it EXISTS on the form. Send in my question about September 30th.

Get a form letter back in reply telling me to check out their website.

I checked out the fucking website, that's where I sent the form from.

Okay, not a problem. I call their number and the guy tells me to look at their deadlines page, where all the deadlines are listed. I tell him okay, I'll do that (again), thinking maybe he's not aware that the page setup's changed. I do so, and then search the site for the deadlines again. On the search results page is a tiny little blurb like search engines give that says something about SEPTEMBER FUCKING 30. I click the link.

Dead link. Has a link to the NEW deadlines page.

Okay. Starting to be annoyed.

Email the SOE Student Services guy. I'll paste what I said, and the replies.

Me:
> Hello,

> However, on the new site, I have not been able to locate any

Them again:

If you knew what program you were interested in then it would be easier to figure out the dates that you are looking for.

Me:
> I am interested in:
>
> Literacy, Language and Culture (M.A.)
> The MAC program
> Social Studies Education (M.A.)
> Programs in Elementary or Secondary Certification
>
> Thank you.

Them:

Thank you for your inquiry to the School of Education here at the University of Michigan. Here is the information that you have requested. If there are any further questions please feel free to contact us here at the Office of Student Services for further assistance ((734) 764-7563). Thank you.

It's really starting to make me think I should give up entirely and go to fucking MSU or something.

*chuckles*

I'M FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah.

So graduation went fairly well: thanks to all of you who congratulated me in one form or another ;) My parents met Ronnie's parents; Ronnie's parents think my parents are extremely nice, hooray! Steph and Ronnie got a bit sunburned because that's what happens when you're in the stadium for several hours and someone (me) doesn't inform you ahead of time that these things happen. From my end, I managed to find some friends to sit with, which was good; the bad was that we ended up sitting next to a small group of idiot frat boys who found it necessary to ridicule everything and shout outrageously offensive things at the speakers in true frat boy fashion. (For example, directed at Gov. Jennifer Granholm: "Show your tits!") We also sat behind a group of guys with a Bosnian flag, which is cool because if I ever see the footage of the ceremony I'll be able to find myself fairly easily :) Post-ceremony we all walked back to respective vehicles and drove to Weber's for lunch. My parents gave me a lovely bracelet that is an heirloom of sorts WHICH I SUDDENLY CANNOT FIND, OH MY GOD, WHERE DID I PUT IT?! (Whew, it was on the floor) and a candy dish shaped like an apple. (Also, my dad bought me a giant lei of flowers.) Ronnie's family gave me....the season three DVDs. Which had to be THE most "holy shit" moment of the day (aside from an occasional remembering that I Am A College Graduate). Lunch was lovely. Post-lunch, my family and I and Ronnie went to the musem to take some pictures and (for my parents) tour...then we went our separate ways. It was a very long, but quite good day.

I need to remember to write Thank-You cards to Ronnie's family and my family (for putting me through school) and to the people who wrote recommendation letters for me (even though I didn't get in).

Oh, and my sister gave me this kickass shirt that has "stop staring at me" on the front and "stop following me" on the back! I love it. :)
