Had to make a very quick HP icon. :)

No spoilers or deep thoughts behind a cut since

I'm leaving for Utah tomorrow morning, so unless by some magic the book arrives at my house tonight, I won't be able to read Deathly Hallows until Sunday. It's probably for the best, though; having this stray at our house last night kept me up, so I'm operating on about 4.5 hours of sleep and wouldn't be able to focus on the book tonight anyway.
That said...this will of course be a spoiler-free zone through Sunday! :)
(Anyone want to guess at how long it'll take me to read the book? I'm predicting 3 hours this time round.)

Jul. 13th, 2007 06:58 pmYesterday I ditched work early (at 9:30) to run errands. I needed to get a new sleeping bag for next weekend's camping trip and I was going to hit the Wal-mart and maybe the thrift stores with my birthday money, but then Becky said "Do you wanna go see Harry Potter in Durango?" So we did. I wore my Ravenclaw scarf and Ronnie's black robe, formerly used for his incarnation of Death. :)
And the movie, it was good.
( Don't cry, Cho Chang! )
Birthdayness:
In the evening, we took Darwin over to Susan's to hang out with some friends from CCAC. Darwie got to play with Susan's dogs, Paco and Haley, and Paul brought his doggie over too...so it was almost more like a dog party than my birthday party, which was fun :) Aside from the occasional barking from the yard, it was a very mellow, relaxed party. Plus, I got some more good gossip out of it :)
So...the birthday haul :)
-HP5 from Becky
-plant and tiny squirrel stuffed animal (heh) from Paul
-gift certificates for the Durango and Cortez bead stores from Jennie and Mary
-Devil in the White City from Erin
-More B.S. by Bree Sharp from Ronnie (yaaaay!)
-a cute notepad from Susan
-penguin backpack from
plummer
-cool bud vase from Steph
Today, my actual birthday, I went with HSFS to Mesa Verde. In the morning, after some of them told me happy birthday at morning meeting, they somewhat spontaneously started to sing to me :) And at the end of the day, Paul made them sing again, too. *was amused* Tomorrow is the HSFS raft trip in Durango, after which I'm going to have SUSHI! on Crow Canyon's dime. And Sunday is the 'local day' where we'll go swimming and play volleyball...and see Harry Potter :)

*facepalms* Oh, bloody hell.
Feb. 1st, 2007 10:58 amI'm planning to be a part of our High School Field School this year. The second weekend of HSFS is usually the camping trip, somewhere in the southwest; last year it was at Chaco Canyon. I was all worried because HP5 hits theaters on my birthday, and until recently I didn't know when HSFS would be starting; if it started the first week of July, then I'd miss the movie, being on the camping trip someplace. But it starts the second week of July, so I won't miss the movie.
Instead, I will probably not be home when the fucking book arrives.

I also like the Eowyn result quite a bit. 'Cept I like Faramir and would not be surprised if that result eventually changes because the rest of the fangirly world suddenly discovers that Faramir=Teh Hotness or some such thing.
Damnation!
Jan. 7th, 2004 11:05 pmI can't seem to find the link to the HP puppet theater flash animation anymore. Anyone know where it could be? It starts off with Ron and Harry saying "Let's go bother Snape!" and then they go off and bother him. They look like they're on popsicle sticks.
Help!
ETA: Found it. Them. Whatever. http://www.luckystarscattery.com/Potter.swf and http://www.luckystarscattery.com/potter2.swf. (You will probably want your speakers on.)

Shocker:

Ravenclaw! Some might see you as a bit haughty, but
that's just because they lack the intellectual
capacity to be worthy of your presence. You see
little difference between enlightenment and
entertainment; learning experiences are
tremendously enjoyable for you. And remember,
kids: just because you're brilliant doesn't
mean you're studious!

Random Dogma-ness: the scene where (I guess this is kind of a spoiler so turn back now) Ben Affleck's wings are blown off is incredibly beautiful. It's so terrible and yet so gorgeous...
