linzeems. It doesn't fit into the SV universe very well, and it doesn't fit the DC universe very well (I assume) but it was just something I had bumping around in my head for a while.

"The truth? Isn't that one of those things you stand for, in
those ridiculously idealistic soundbites you keep giving? Truth,
justice, the American Way." His glass was empty again. He
moved to refill it. "I swear, you must give more press
conferences than I do."
Clark said nothing, only watched Lex circle behind the desk.
"The American Way? If anything, that's my department, not
yours. You know what the American Way really is, Clark? It's
money, sex, and death. Not the bucolic platitudes of Jonathon
Kent about family and hard work."
"You're drunk," Clark said finally. "You care about what my
father said--you believe in truth, too, or I wouldn't be standing
here."
"The truth is, Clark, you're the reason I'm here. I always
blamed my father," Lex said, "but I've come to realize that it
was you, all along, that made me this way. You're the one that
changed my destiny."
"That's sweet, Lex, it really is," Clark said, putting his glasses
down on the edge of the desk between them. He took a step
closer.
