I'm up to 254 stories read so far! I probably have another dozen or so to read in the fandoms I know. Hey, that's like .10 of all the stories posted this year! *facepalms*

First of all, the incredibly awesome story I got: By the Waves We Left Behind. It's a great, perfect look into the lives of the Murry twins from Madeleine L'Engle's books; post Many Waters, with all that means for their memories and how they go forward. Also, an important creature from the canon shows up now and again. :)

Yuletide Recs 2008

10 Things I Hate About You
Won't Be Your Winter
Future!fic. Kat and Patrick, eight years later.

28 Days Later
East Hastings
"I killed my mother this morning."
You can't resist that. :D

AA Milne - Winnie The Pooh
In Which Worlds Collide and Eeyore Investigates a Terrible Crime
Ahahahahahaha. :D Eeyore and the rest are written exactly right, and the crossover is pretty clever. Also, there's a perfect piece of art, too!

Aladdin (the movie)
Whole New World
A slightly dark but really good story with a freed Genie.

Anne McCaffrey - Dragonriders of Pern
Lend Song A Sweeter Grace
Menolly goes home, at least for a little while.

Arthurian Legend
What Is And What Seems To Be
A Saxon princess is meant to bridge the gap, but since it's Guinevere, things go a little differently than planned.

Audrey Niffenegger - The Time Traveler's Wife
und mit Geistesstärke tu ich Wunder auch
Alba is.

Barry Hughart - Master Li series
Along The Fujiang
Fits the books to a T. Plus, the making of dumplings!

Big
wring the water from wine.
So...what's it like, having to grow up all over again? (I still want good Narnia stories on that front, too, btw.)

Calvin and Hobbesthe sandwich story"
Amazingly sad story about growing up. :( (Good, though.)

Fairy Tales
Fire, Measured By What Doesn't Burn
The Twelve Dancing Princesses. Sort of. The modern soldier's perspective is really gripping.

Skin
It's really not such a good idea to make promises about your firstborn. I like the modern, somewhat superficial take on this one, that turns into something more.

I Believe In the Air I Breathe
A prince who defies gravity, and the princess who saves him and his kingdom. Really cute.

Galaxy Quest
The Show Must Go On
Haha. The Thermians need help from the crew again. A familiar plot point from Star Trek makes its (goateed?) appearance. A bit of slash, too, but nothing explicit.

Hancock
Through a Glass Darkly
Hancock, plus Mary and Ray. All together now...well, sort of. (Slashy. Yay!)

Kim Stanley Robinson - Mars trilogy
Shalbatana
Great story about a little rover and the people looking for it. It fits the novels precisely, down to the last detail.

Laura Ingalls Wilder - Little House series
A Land So Wild and Savage
Charles, wanting to go ever west.

Philip Pullman - His Dark Materials
Remembering the Future
Mary Malone's grandson meets up with Will at various points in their lives. I rather like these post-series stories, especially when they're sad like this.

Pushing Daisies
Camp
Good casefic, with just the right amount of narration.

Sarah Connor Chronicles
Cinderella, Made of Steel
AWESOME Cameron fic. Cookies are involved. Cameron works on making Sarah be like a mom.

Terminator
Key To The Lock
Kate Brewster, working her way through time.

Wall-E
All There Is And More
Babyfic. (No, seriously. It's cute.)

And, last but not least, the fic everybody's rec'd already:

xkcd
The Amazing Adventures of Hat Guy and the Girl Who Stole His Hat
Just what you'd expect from a fic about xkcd. Random, yet poignant.
