Friday night,

Yesterday, I went hiking in Utah with some...hmm. I don't quite know what they are in relation to me these days. One is a colleague who is semi-retired (Lew); another, his...er...lady friend, who teaches at an elementary school in town (Laurie); the last, a really cool woman who does research with Crow Canyon but is going to Notre Dame at some point this year (Donna). So...work-friends? Kinda?
Anyway, we went to Montezuma Canyon and visited a couple of sites that are on 'islands' in the confluences of canyons. They're pretty damn big; I have several pictures but I'm not sure what they'll mean to non-archy-people. I guess I'll have to see what kinds of captions will be helpful. Also, Laurie took us to this rock art panel she knows about; there's some really old stuff on there and some very cool handprints and a fluteplayer, apparently playing to a woman. It's cool. Those pictures will definitely pop up here at some point.
On the way back, however, Laurie's car started behaving badly. Fortunately, she was able to get it most of the way to town, but it still took quite a long time for the situation to be resolved; there was a party last night and she and Lew didn't get there until late. (It was a St. Patrick's Day party, with corned beef & cabbage and green beer...and macaroni and cheese. Hee.)
I've been trying to get back into the swing (er, so to speak) of playing tennis every weekend. I've thus far managed to go last Sunday and today...my forehand's all right, as usual, but my backhand is TERRIBLE. My toss for serving is also extremely erratic. My parents are bringing my rackets in April. I'm not really sure why; I have a couple that someone from work lent me and they're fine. *shrugs*
Oh! Heroes fen: last week, the younger male teacher that chaperoned my group looked like SYLAR. (er. With long hair.) He was mildly horrified when I told him that, too. :)
