People cry when they watch Bambi. Or Steel Magnolias, or something like that. I don't think American Beauty is a particularly sad movie... I suppose that's why my family looks at me in bewilderment every time I start crying. I'm not responding to his death - I like his character, but I don't feel very sorry for him.
And for Shawshank, my other tear-jerker - the ending isn't sad. It's a very nice ending. They are tears of happiness, I suppose?
Fuck it, I cry when Jurassic Park ends too. My emotions are inexplicable.
