I was all like, "Cool, Mxyzptlk!" because he was pretty neat in L&C and on the recent animated version. Then he started moving in on the VIOLATING CHLOE zone and it suddenly became SO VERY NOT COOL NOT E VEN A LITTLE TINY BIT. Yiiiiikes.

I maintain that the thing in the fairytale about his family name being Kltpzyxm was a nod to 'real' fairy canon about names having a great deal of power as well as to the Superman canon. It could also be that the fairytale was constructed as a tip to people who encountered those beings about how to get rid of them. Just me speculating.

I was wrong about him having been brought from the former Soviet Union to examine the map dealie. I think that's probably a good thing.

What is probably a bad thing is this 33.1. I bet Miss Emily Dinsmore's down there.

Next week: I look forward to cringing repeatedly at their butchering of history.

There was a Mxyzptlk episode is Smallville? This makes me happy. He always was one of the better 'villians', though I'm not sure how he would translate into a live action/kinda realistic show...

It was an interesting interpretation. I don't wholly approve of what they did with him (see VIOLATING CHLOE) but it was interesting nonetheless. He was an exchange student who Lionel Luthor had brought over (most likely because he found out about what Mxyzptlk could do) and he was a very successful bookie in Metropolis (and Smallville). Which seems a good grounded-in-'reality' kind of explanation. Wish they'd done more with his name, though.

I think they'll bring him back again, and possibly with different (or altered) powers. And hopefully more imp-like. He was still cool as he was, though.
